Our Instructors:

Our instructor, Steve Baca, began his training in 1993 under world-renowned American Kenpo master Larry Tatum in Pasadena,Ca. Steve holds a 6th degree black belt in American Kenpo. In 2000 Steve began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under the famous Machado’s in Pasadena,Ca. After receiving his blue belt in 2003 from Roger Machado Steve opened his school in Sherman Oaks,Ca. His move forced him to search for a BJJ school closer to his own academy. He found his home at Gracie Barra Culver City with Master Gerson Sanginitto. In August of 2007 he received his Purple belt from Master Gerson . On the 22nd of November 2008 Steve received his Brown Belt from Gerson Sanginitto.

At the end 2005 after much prodding from his friends at the famous 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in Hollywood,Ca Steve began his no-gi submission grappling journey under Black belt Eddie Bravo. Steve received his purple belt in 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu from Eddie Bravo in February of 2008.

Steve felt the need to add weapons to his curriculum and was fortunate to find Felix Valencia of Valencia/Lameco Eskrima . Steve received his a level 1and Level 2 certificate under Guro Felix Valencia in Lameco knife fighting and self defense November 19, 2008. Steve also trains FCS Kali with Gigie Alunday and Rich Verdejo.

Steve Stickler began his quest in Mixed Martial Arts in 2006 under the instruction of Jean Jacques Machado’s David Dunn, Gokor Chivichyan’s Karo Parysian and Pro Boxer Jeremy Williams at Sidekicks fight Academy. After having visited schools all over the LA area, he found his home in Sherman Oaks at Steve Baca's academy.

His primary focus is now on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; Steve currently holds a blue belt in BJJ under Gerson Sanginitto, Gracie Barra Culver City.

Steve is currently working towards his purple belt in the Gracie system. He instructs Wednesday evening Adult BJJ classes with the intent to grow both individually and along side the Baca family.

As Steve continues to expand his knowledge and skill of BJJ under the tutelage of Steve Baca, he keeps close contact throughout the BJJ community, continuously evolving as a Martial Artist.
